How to Remember Maths Formulas
A formula you have only read is a formula you will forget. The ones that stay are the ones you have used.
In short
Understand where it comes from
The area of a triangle is half a rectangle. Knowing why makes the formula hard to lose.
Write it from memory, then check
Recalling it is what strengthens it. Reading it again does not.
Use it on a real question the same day
A formula becomes yours the first time it gets you an answer.
Keep one page of formulas
One page, not scattered through the book. Look at it often and briefly.
Learn what every letter stands for
A formula with unfamiliar letters is a formula you cannot use.
Group the ones that belong together
Circle formulas together, trigonometry together. They are easier to hold as a set.
