How to Make Maths Flashcards
Flashcards work for facts, not for methods. Used well, they clear the small things out of the way.
In short
One fact per card
A card with three things on it never gets learnt.
Put a question on the front
What is the area of a circle beats a card that just says Circles.
Add a worked example on the back
The formula, and one use of it.
Answer out loud before turning it over
Recognising an answer is not the same as remembering it.
Sort into two piles
Known and not known. Spend your time on the second pile.
Revisit the known pile weekly
Facts fade quietly if you never look at them again.
